Validium to offer pain management solutions

Following its successful acquisition of PainConsultants, the highly respected pain management consultancy, The Validium Group is now in a position to provide specialist pain management solutions to employees and accident victims struggling to cope with pain.

Mike Shaw, Validium’s managing director, comments, “Absent employees and accident victims often struggle with a combination of pain difficulties and psychological concerns, such as stress, anxiety and depression, relating to their condition. So we are thrilled to be adding the expertise of PainConsultants to our portfolio of resources. The dovetailing of pain management services with Validium’s psychological and rehabilitation solutions will strengthen our ability to rehabilitate individuals, in a way that provides a measurable return on investment for their employer or insurance company, even further.”

Dr Dee Burrows PhD, BSc (Hons), RGN, RNT, who founded PainConsultants in 2004, will continue to provide her pain management expertise, heading up the pain management services team as part of Validium’s rehabilitation division. Speaking of the agreement, Dr Burrows commented: “Validium’s focus on quality, value, service and integrity is a great match with our own ideals and we are delighted to now be part of The Validium Group”.

In announcing the agreement, Validium is also announcing its ability to deliver a fully integrated rehabilitation service for its insurance, legal, occupational health and human resources customers. Individuals struggling to overcome pain and related psychological concerns will typically be referred by their insurer, legal firm or from case managers within occupational health companies. They can also refer themselves for one-to-one pain education, a pain management assessment or for participation in a group pain management programme.
