New Service Tackles Absenteeism in the Workplace

Validium, the integrated EAP provider and specialist HR consultancy, has launched a new 'Return to Work' Programme, which has already provided successful results.

Aimed at employees absent for a month or longer, the programme has demonstrated a success rate of around 70%, with employees still at work three months after returning to the workplace.

With the employee's consent, Validium undertakes an initial assessment, carried out by qualified clinicians, to establish the cause of absence. At this stage reasons for absence are not always due to work or stress related illness.

Once the information is relayed to the employer, Validium arranges a number of face-to-face counselling sessions with the employee and further sessions are arranged once the person returns to work to ensure their integration back into the workplace.

The programme has been welcomed by companies who are finding absence management a growing and concerning issue.

"Most companies are unaware of the real cost of absenteeism and are not sure how to actively approach the subject. Likewise, in most cases the employee is motivated to get back to work but needs a helping hand. It's important that companies act quickly to encourage and help the person back to work as lengthy delays only aggravate the situation."

"We've already launched the programme into a number of blue chip companies who are seeing immediate improvements in the welfare of their employees and in their absence levels," said Anne Payne, Executive Director, Validium.

Validium is currently exhibiting at Stand Number 232 at The Employee Benefits Conference. Further information is available by contacting Lesley Howling on 01494 489085, [email protected] or through the website,
